The four first titles thus appear very rhythmic "Autumn Rain", "Blue moon" famous song which we can not count interpreters (Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke ...), and we barely recognize the melody, "Gypsy" and "invitation". With the fifth title "I remember Italy", the battery virtually disappeared leaving its place to the bass Reginald Veal and especially impresionnistes scrolls Ahmad Jamal. "The sixth title," Laura ", is also a famous jazz standard composed for the eponymous film noir Otto Preminger (1944) and interpreted more playful, less dramatic than the original. A beautiful version.
"Morning Mist", an original composition signed Jamal, impresses with its dynamic and innovative aspect. Gently starting with a bass solo, soon complemented by the famous pianist atmospheric pads, the song goes crescendo, gaining in power, with the introduction of the battery and virtuosic improvisations with breathtaking Ahmad Jamal. Unquestionably the best disc title! The next song "This is the life" takes the recipe the first four titles with pervasive battery. the album ends with another standard signed Dizzy Gillespie, "Woody'n you", also very rhythmic with an important place left in this time percussionist.
Recorded at Avatar Studios in New York in October 2011, so that's a record to score again a milestone in the discography already busy pianist.
And why not, a moonstone?
