Well. Let it first to the positive aspects of this album ...
- The music has some nice ideas, for example the partially polyphonic singing, especially in the choruses
- In principle, the idea of the German-Elvish mixed texts is not earth-shattering innovation, but not bad
- Mrs Delliponti may well sing
- The album has a pleasing mixture of faster and slower songs
Well, and there hears it then unfortunately already on what I noticed positively. So we come to the negative points ...
- The title act partially overloaded. I much it pretty hard to hear in many pieces, individual elements of the songs. Too bad, sometimes less really is more.
- The music is extremely "ironed out". For me, as a layman, the instruments sound quite as if they were real, but at the same time they are mixed so clean and produces that any naturalness is lost.
- The lyrics are really bad. In retrospect, I am glad that has been changed in places to Tolkien's Elvish language. I do not understand that is so I can tell myself at least, that the respective passages are profound, meaningful, and perhaps rightly sounded. Neither the one nor the other, I think, but I can imagine it to me so anyway. In the end I gave up after the first few songs, really to listen to the lyrics. What was there already shot at "Gaea" to platitudes because shudder me.
- Mrs Dellipontis voice is good, I had already written above. But when I think that the album anyway should therefore come very pop, their pop voice just does not fit in the musical context. Especially not when you take this in addition to the German texts even Elvish. This does not round and thought to myself.
- If you know a song, you know them all. Actually, hardly surprising, but disappointing.
- Santiano is no enrichment, rather a devaluation of the already average plant.
"Oonagh" is like a Big Mac. A burger in between, for a quick snack. But a Big Mac stinks just tremendously against a homemade burger from, in which the individual ingredients are still herausgeschmeckt. It's not a bad CD, certainly not. But she's just nothing really special, at least not for me.
For interested readers / listeners some recommendations on my part.
Faun - Apart from the last album "Von den Elben" a truly great band, stylistically rough going in the same direction as the reviewed here Album. But worlds better.
Subway To Sally - When things are a little more rock and must go towards "Middle Ages" even more.
Eluveitie - if it even harder - metalliger! Must be -. The band with "Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion" has also produced a first-class acoustic album with pop twist.
Otherwise, I can not specifically set the album "Ozymandias" the band Qntal warmly.
