Jethro Tull is well known by everyone. The guys around frontman Ian Anderson for decades already belong to the cream-de-la-creme of the rock scene. With its medieval-inspired sound and the unusual Flute sequences Jethro Tull offer extremely varied music. This recording comes from the jazz festival in Montreux and shows the Tull at a high level.
Anderson entertains the crowd as usual with his casual remark can always provide for a laugh or two. The instrumentalists remain in the background and used to provide an acoustic masterpiece!
Anderson and Co. can draw on a huge natural repertoire of songs, since the entire discography includes many albums! The rockers play repeatedly differente pieces and no appearance are the same. This fact is backed up alone by the spontaneity of Anderson.
Although I am very confident of this recording, I understand many critics who assert that "Live in Montreux" in some places comes a little boring. I also admit that some solo passages of musicians sometimes played a little too much detail and that's why I forgive this Silberling "only" 4 stars!
Jethro Tull in Montreux offers fans but despite everything, a full-service on folk music and a compelling show!
