This relatively late work (3 years ago Bob's death) is certainly one of the most interesting and best albums of Bob Marley and his Wailers, though most of the songs contained outside the "experts group" not likely to be known: Only "So Much Trouble in the World" , "Africa Unite" or "One Drop" dive now and then as a replenisher in the various best-of compilations. There are on this CD still find other beads: "Babylon System" and "Zimbabwe" convince with catchy monotonous and wonderful deep bass lines, and the melodic "Ambush in the night" knows how to please. "Wake up and live" disappointed in my opinion fully, it acts only as a poor imitation of the famous "Get up, stand up". Important to mention is that the emphasis on "African Roots" of Rastafari (actually. Yes of all mankind) to "Survival" especially clearly comes to light, like the rhythms, for example in "Zimbabwe", a brief look at the Cover and a deeper look into the accompanying texts is apparent. It can be found on this CD no feel-good songs like "Trenchtown Rock" or "Kinky Reggae Party", each track has its own message, which present themselves in continuously serious and often cumbersome acting tone dresses. This is, however, said value-free / written and should not be construed as criticism. Conclusion: If you want to get to know Bob Marley's music, teams up with compilations like "Legend" probably easier for "advanced" fans is "Survival" but a must buy!
