Two weeks ago, I bought this device and have tried to install an operating system on it. However, this is almost impossible. I would claim that I am well versed with various platforms, but I am not a successful Windows 7 or a Windows Home Server 2011 to install.
The problem is not about that this "box" - so I would like to call once disparagingly - is not recognized by the relevant system. No. After successful initial installation lacks several drivers. Well .. actually one would think no problem.
But far from it !!
HP is unable for this MicroServer - is suitable due to its size and design perfect for private sale, as the least a 19-inch rack are in the cellar - offer appropriate base driver. On the German website you can find no driver. For any operating system. Only on the English side will be certified for div. Server operating systems drivers. Windows 7 - Wrong!
This has led to a result, the chipset drivers, graphics drivers, USB 3.0 drivers, and even the LAN drivers are not available. After hours of search I found a roundabout way about other manufacturers corresponding driver. Unfortunately, I still lack the chipset drivers. The - and now care - even Intel itself is unknown!
Hope the appropriate drivers to find a vile Windows Update were unfortunately disappointed.
Now for Windows Home Server 2011. For who do not know .. the WHS 2011 is based on a Windows Server 2008 operating system. The driver for it can be found on the English HP. But surprise, surprise ... these drivers are not supported by the box. "No certified driver .."
Phew ... So what's a No !!
After I was busy two days in depth with the box, I've decided to send back the unit.
Dear developers and product designers from HP ... if you bring such a product to market, think it out of the box and provides appropriate driver for such a system. Even for Windows 7 or the WHS 2011 !!
That's just embarrassing !!
For virtualization of Windows 7 or WHS on an ESXi I can not say anything. After two days I just did not feel like !!
I have now ordered a box of Synology. Well .. .. HP revenue does not go to you.
