The stylus 1 has all the qualities that I liked about this, plus the viewfinder and the service that I know of my "big" Olympus OMD EM5.
The built-in stabilizer is better than the XZ2, a 1/30 out of hand at 300mm is quite impressive, as well as 1 / 5s at wide angle.
The completely vibration-free release, you even can not hear right next to the camera is as certainly not indifferent.
Genial is the manual focus via the switchable lens ring, which was at the XZ2 pretty nifty, but sometimes a little jerky, if you wanted to adjust slowly and precisely, this is no longer the case with the Stylus 1.
The viewfinder is so good that he even at night without any problem a setting permits, where for example, already rushing a NEX 7 in the viewfinder ... how Olympus has managed it with the mini sensor to me is really a mystery (the live picture yes from the sensor, where the roars really has the viewfinder are worse)
The AF is the fastest I've seen so far in a compact ... it comes close to the Olympus System cameras and is faster than the NEX. 7
He is also much faster than the AF of XZ2, even after it has quite gained through the last firmware update.
With touch trigger that feels just as instant on, as in the EM5.
Nice detail: if you opened the display to 90 degrees, is the eye sensor out of operation ... that has often nerfed me the EM5, that was in the middle reverted when Touchen on the folded display on the viewfinder, only because the finger too close to the sensor came.
The build quality is at a high level, plastic ... yes, but nothing wobbles or creaks, the buttons and wheels are fed up to use and have a clear pressure points. The Okulargummi is harder than when EM5 and also seems not so easy to go off ... and the thing fits on the EM5. I have an ordered as a replacement for the torn of EM5 (available here on Amazon ... it carries the 31 on behalf)
The fact that the automatic opening lid is time factory here, is a nice train from Olympus ... in the XZ series you had to buy it at that.
The front grip is out a bit narrow and flat, thanks to the lightness of the camera it is nevertheless good to keep ... a bit more would be nice.
I think I'm going to still get the leather case to .. at the PEN cameras I found helpful to keep them safe and enjoyable.
The image quality of the stylus 1 is very impressive, but that calls for a superzoom (low) price ... it is slightly less sharp than the lens of XZ2 ... but still very sharp (a Kitzoom to an MFT camera quite a sweat , if it is to compete against)
What me is thrilled the ease with which one can get with the camera results in high quality ... it is here the EM5 very similar, even with this I always had the feeling of "cheating" if I thought about how much concentrated I had to work if I wanted to make a difficult image with one of my previous cameras.
The camera is in the JPG as well matched as the PEN series, the RAWs are detected from Lightroom 5.3, with previous versions you have to go through the DNG Converter .... but what is not a problem, since it can also function as Importierprogramm.
The tonal range of files is impressive, you have to bear in mind that a small 1: 1.7 sensor which keeps up easily with an MFT, which comes from the generation before EM5. Even at ISO 800 are still all the details because ... (in JPG I recommend, however, the noise reduction to "low" or even to "OFF") Although it roars a bit, but no color noise, but mur luminance noise. ISO 1600 has good color, but rushes already visible ... but still has plenty of Deteil. ISO 3200 I would no longer be used, although it is still good enough for normal memory images.
The type of noise is quite enjoyable, more beautiful than in the older pens and practically only luminance noise, even at this high sensitivity.
It is annoying that the accessory shoe can not come up with the port for the power supply of the LED macro light ... which I found very convenient and would also be happy to use the Stylus 1.
For me as an old PEN member is very convenient that I can continue to use the battery of PEN series. The practical characteristic that you could charge the battery to the USB port of the notebook (XZ Series) is no longer available. Pity!
So yet again to lug an extra charger.
The configurability of the settings and buttons / wheels, is quite at the level of EM5 ... not only that you have two FN keys (with the video button even three) you can also the direction of the wheels and their occupancy change.
For example, I put the setting in the menu on the thumb, the left I'd bet on the function menu in the SCP and with the right thumb, I turn to change it.
As you can see, I am completely satisfied with this camera ... also does not interfere, that it has no Auto ISO in M ... I will anyway not dimmed further than 2.8) so I can use S.
Toll also that it dominates Remote TTL and the need to use, unlike all system cameras and DSLRs also at any time without a power-sapping HiSpeed mode.
Who can I recommend the Stylus 1?
Floral kingdoms, discerning beginner, second camera seekers and people who have no desire for a full camera bag .... in addition to all those who would like to brighten up when popping sun with flash. The small built-in flash does 1/1000 at least as much as the usual thick Aufsteckblitze in high-speed mode.
