The 16-35 is worlds better! This makes it so much fun, very close ranzugehen at people and objects. But even for landscape and town shots this Wide Zoom is perfect.
+ Hot as chili pepper, even in the corners with a full frame camera (starting aperture 5.6)
+ Excellent color and contrast
+ One should not believe, even the bokeh is worth seeing
+ Consistent, relatively large aperture (f4)
+ Can use filters !!!
+ Professional handling - gently common, easily subdued Zoom ring (the 20-35 / 2.8er is still better in this category)
+ AF-S with manual focus ring which is always on (be careful because you have easy times range summarizes accidentally)
+ VR - works, but is not such a WOW experience like the 70-300 VR or 70-200 VR II
In contrast, the weak points:
- Large Lens, almost as large as the 24-70 / 2.8, Nikon but thanks be much easier
- Strong distortion at 16-18mm - Who cares, can set to 19-20mm, then the distortion is gone, or you can fix them in CaptureNX2 or PS
- Not as sturdily built as the 20-35 / 2.8
If you look at the end of the day on the images, you can give the 16-35 / f4 only the maximum number of points. It's just great!
I highly recommend it.
