He is very small and does not interfere by when he puts on the camera. For the wireless adapter a backup tapes is this which allows you to fix the adapter to the camera and lose so to protect. If you do not need it is a small plastic case in which one can place the adapter. This box can fasten the carrying strap of the camera. The box has an opening for the backup tapes of the adapter so that the ribbon can stay tuned.
The connection via WLAN with a mobile phone (Galaxy S1 with Android 4.4 and Motorola Milestone with Android 2.x) is absolutely not a problem because the Adapter your own WLAN spans. Go into the WLAN settings, tap the WLAN adapter, connect, finished. Could not be simpler. Chance is here angemosert the adapter a dedicated WLAN spanned and can not tap into existing networks. But that would not make sense. How is one to connect his mobile phone to the camera if no WLAN is available for example then? Eg if you are traveling outside.
The images are directly (Nikon WirelessMobileUtility) transferred to the snap on the cell phone. That went pretty fast. The function can be switched off.
Disconnections I could not find the range and was 10 meters +. Between us from another room with the wall cause no problem
That was it but unfortunately even with the positive attributes and I come to the negatives.
- The Nikon app WirelessMobileUtility function is limited to out, zoom in and triggering.
- Zooming is not as accurate as on the camera itself.
- I could not exploit the full zoom range with me. Using the adapter, I was every picture 2 levels below the
Comparison image that was taken directly to the camera.
- Sharpen by touching the triggers such as on the camera itself is not possible. The first "shot" is carried out with absolute
blurred live image on cell phone. Only after the live image was sharp. If you change the zoom happens partially.
- If you connect the adapter to the camera screen turns off. So let's quickly change what is not possible.
Without display you do not see what you have set and the Nikon APP can not be selected. It is therefore
forced each time to change the settings you want to remove the adapter from
There is an alternative to the Nikon WirelessMobileUtility eg the free app DSLRDashboard. This app provides a much wider range of functions. Unfortunately, not for the P520. At least the program is crashed with me every time I wanted to establish a connection to the camera. Unfortunately, the app offers the Nikon is a bad joke.
Why still 3 stars?
Because I find the adapter in principle well.
With a proper app and a DSLR, the adapter is certainly a very good acquisition and worth the money.
But the owner of a non-DSLR camera should consider the purchase carefully. I sent him back because of the limitations.
