For Windows Mobile a successful part

I am for the past two and a half days the proud owner of HTC Touch Diamond. I do not know whether after such a short tenure it's useful to write a Rezesion, but I want the bad negative reviews from the beginning a little perspective.

The Performance
===============
The device has a 528 MHz processor, making it one of the fastest Windows Mobile devices on the market. If one were theoretically the gadgetry (eg the TouchFlo 3D interface) omit and using pure Windows Mobile, the device would be extremely fast. However, since the pretty animated interface is a looker and should make the iPhone through this gimmick competition, they hardly will probably switch off.
On the other hand, the TouchFlo operation is at first touch is not very intuitive, which is why it the impression of a delay may occur - read more under operation.

Service
=========
The device can be seen hardly as Windows Mobile device because of the familiar home screen was replaced by the cute animated TouchFlo 3D interface. Very pretty and quick to use with your finger, but you have the right moves only train a little and watch where you sit the finger.
It lubricates the finger at the lower navigation bar around bringing the once nothing. The finger has to start where the menu is straight and the selection can thus (quasi as a regulator) towards and forth. If one does so, he activates the application which was not when it is released under the fingers - what might be interpreted as a delay.

Battery Performance
============
I invite my device straight, I think for the 8th time in the nearly three days. I think the battery for one of the biggest weaknesses of the device, which is why I'm going next month to get the Extended Battery Pack incl rear cover 1340 mAh instead of 900 mAh me. However, my Nutzungsitensivität is probably above average.
I call for example, every 15 minutes via GPRS / HSDPA an e-mail account from which has dragged on the extreme battery life even with my Neo. I also play to date constantly with the GPS around and call over Google Maps maps from the Internet - which also sucks the battery empty. For such gimmicks of the supplied battery pack is not designed.
Extremely negative battery life struck me with a 3-hour bike ride on Sunday. I wanted to record the track with a software, but the battery was almost empty after only 2 hours, so I had to stop recording. The display was switched off in the time, only running the tracking software.

Navigation
==========
Of course it is a complete GPS receiver with A-GPS support available. Preinstalled is Google Maps, which fetches the map data from the Internet regularly. Anyone who has followed the advance notice carefully, this also knew :-). In the apparatus of the O2 software TomTom 7 is preinstalled with an optional city card, others need to be purchased separately.
Anyone who wants to use GPS to navigate without data plan, should consider the purchase of a navigation software. Since the cards are the most expensive eh, you save here at the O2 solution also little and goes probably cheaper than Little users with Google Maps.

Sound quality
=============
The telephone quality is exceptionally good and clear, even without the headset. Compared to my last HTC device a clear progress.
The music sounds through the speaker, of course, not very convincingly. Here the unit with the supplied headset is hardly for a MP3 player.

Radio
=====
The radio antenna is integrated in the headset, so the ratio will only be closed with the headset. This is an advantage because the radio reception so it is clear and strong. On the downside, you can not simultaneously charge the device into a USB port, because the headset uses the USB combo port.

Internet

The device defaults to using the Opera Mini browser than because of the MS Internet Explorer can not display Web pages in desktop quality. YouTube client

The other drawback is the fact that the search bar does not support copy / paste. If one has copied from a web page, the video ID or marked the name, you can not paste the YouTube client search this.

Camera
======
3 megapixels with autofocus offer enough resources for high-quality images during the day or with adequate lighting. Unfortunately, there is a built-in flash or at least one auxiliary lamp, which is why in poor lighting conditions, the images are least something.
A slight touch on the sensitive navigation wheel of the Auto Focus is triggered, shot the photo by pressing. Unfortunately, the delay from pressing to trigger palpable (3-5 seconds), which is why the camera for snapshots is only conditionally suitable.
On the front panel a second camera attached for video calling, which can be used for self-portraits with the camera functionality.

Accessories
=======
The downside, if you buy a newly introduced on the market unit, is the extremely poor accessory availability. Although you can at least now from Amazon and some other handlers a docking station, but the original HTC docking station is far from available. Unfortunately supplied nor bag is, the original HTC bag is available only in 20 days. Some providers offer in the Internet but on an "appropriate" bags.

Location sensor
==========
A nice detail is the position sensor. Looking at web pages or photos, you can turn a simple turn of the device in the cross-screen mode. This unfortunately does not take place through the entire operation by the writing of SMS or emails in landscape mode is not possible with a simple turn. Gimmicks

The device has 4GB of internal memory, but no SD card slot. Often this is referred to as a shortcoming, but personally I've never bought a 4GB SD card, most people I know no greater than 4 GB. This here one saves much cost, but also loses the quick replacement of an SD card.
For me, this is an advantage in any case.

Conclusion
=====
I think the unit for the most technically advanced Windows Mobile device on the market, which can change course at any time. Positive the new operating concept and the number of technical details (GPS, radio, position sensor, Wi-Fi B / G, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, HSDPA at up to 7.2 Mbits downstream) is the make the device an "all-rounder".
Negative is the high base load of the processor and memory through the TouchFlo 3D interface that some swallows of performance and battery life. Here also the other criticism is buried, the underperforming battery of too early in the day give up the ghost when using the built-in features.

With the larger battery the unit would earn 5 stars, only 4 because of too short duration. Since the larger battery but "only" expected to cost about 55 Euros, I will invest safely and have as always even a second battery for GPS bike tours here.
