Formatted for Mac OS X

The external hard drive WD MY BOOK FOR MAC has convinced me in terms of their design and performance. She is already formatted for Mac computers, so it can be used immediately after you connect to the Mac operating.

MY BOOK FOR MAC is complete with power cord (including two different essays - only one fit for Germany) and supplied USB cable. The illustrated introduction to the commissioning in printed form is really very short. However, anyone who has connected an external drive, also know as what to do. More detailed information is then obtained by the Software ("Drive Utilities"), located on the hard drive. With the software "WD Security" even password protection and hardware encryption are possible. She is also already on the drive.

Compatible is the drive with all operating systems from Mac OS X 10.5 up to the latest version of Mac OS X 10.9! The USB 3.0 port is also backward compatible, so functional even with USB 2.0. The capacity of these small hard disk (8.9 cm x 3.5 inches) is as high as 3 TB, so plenty of space for photos and videos that require a lot of memory.

All in all, went with me commissioning without problems. The drive was immediately recognized by the system, so I could create with Apple Time Machine on my MacBook Pro my first back-up. The drive worked here almost silently, what I found very pleasant. Unfortunately, my MacBook only one USB 2.0 port, so I did not get to enjoy the faster data transfer that is possible with USB 3.0. So at this point I can not judge the possible improvement which the manufacturer promises.

As already mentioned, I am pleased with MY BOOK FOR MAC because all the demands that I put on an external hard drive, are met. That here a power plug for power is still needed, do not bother me. But of course it is always more comfortable and better. Nevertheless convince me look, functionality and accessories to the point that I forgive the full score and a strong buy recommendation pronounce!
