That starts with the delivery: There are also directly supplied the appropriate cable for each connection option, even Firewire 400 to Firewire 800. This is with other manufacturers often not the case. Unfortunately, the cables are kept relatively short, so you can operate the drive with these cables only in computer nearby.
The appearance: The also fits perfectly. Iomega has as a nice mix of the old and the new Mac-White Aluminium Look found. Although everything is made of plastic, but feels quite stable.
Now the most important, the technique:
- The drive is very quiet. Comparable operating noise is roughly that of the iMac, if it is used just surf the Internet. Only the start-up or "waking up" the plate is a bit noisy, but is actually also quite if you have run the way music or television.
- The drive is very fast. I have it connected with Firewire 800 to my iMac (2011). The more than 500 GB of data were backed up within a few hours. Via USB 2.0 would have probably lasted half a day or even longer. And in normal usage, the drive pulls the data very rapidly. One hardly gets anything if Time Machine makes his hourly update, while probably know this will back up files in the gigabyte range.
- The one negative is simply that the power light of the panel also lights up when the computer is off. Who cares, but just needs the I / O switch at the back of the plate press.
- Also a negative, but probably technically does not permit otherwise: The built-in USB hub can only be used if the disk has been connected via USB to the computer.
For Mac users, it's definitely a strong buy recommendation!
