The device is perfect here to rezensierende to digitize your beloved Records, because they might simply block would like to listen to the iPod, iPad or other.
It is important to "earth" to prevent the turntable to the Hama hum. Also great on the Hama: it will not again requires a further outlet and the Mac will recognize the device immediately after connecting. Important: later later select in System Settings not as a USB mic, but as a USB headset for digitizing.
Connecting is otherwise well explained in the user manual provided. I can make this preamplifier therefore absolutely recommend!
Now we come to the application and to the question: how I digitize easiest without having to complete an evening study. The usual recommendation "audacity" needed exactly this same study; much too complicated. I wanted it easy!
The Mac already provides a program GarageBand, Perfect. But here is the "normal user" possibly baffled .. How to use? As you come namely not so easy on it, I think.
Here's how: you open GarageBand, a new project and then takes "Piano". Klimgt strange, but so ;-)
In the open program first then hide the piano and another new (!) Track invest. From here take "instrument" and then sets the input signal manually (USB headset) and the output, as you have him individually (in my example, the amplifier). After the first track for the piano delete, we only need the new. In order to listen, monitor. The metronome under control off, we need not :-) Now start the turntable and simultaneously press the red button for recording. Viola!
I've trained the way I take each song individually, appears in the editing more complicated but to separate the title later iTunes, is more complex. If a title is recorded, you go to deploy in iTunes - it opens a window and you have to make several entries for the artist etc and then specify in particular whether or not you want to compress. I opted for MP3 Bitrate 320 because I am putting the file later on the NAS in order to play them with other devices.
The sound is great in iTunes, find him almost better ;-) - No, seriously, I do not need post-processed and freed from crackling music, they should sound the way just sounds vinyl point. Some albums itunes then detects even the day and has the same charged me the appropriate cover.
Conclusion: the part of Hama between a record player and a Mac are a perfect match! :-)
