The short version is that there are no genuine installed 4GB of graphics memory. Nvidia has simply specified, only 3.5GB - which would be bad per se, but once you exceed this with modern games, there is a drop in performance of up to 50%. That is, the card is then from the point weaker than a GTX 770 or GTX 760. By then even the fun stops at many on - and for such a sinfully expensive card.
"For me the problem has never occurred" - think now many. Yes this can be good, because currently there is not so many games that can really prove over 3.5GB. The upcoming title but do it so. Example: Witcher 3, Skyrim with many Grafikmods or simply 4K Gaming will then bring huge performance problems.
Golem is one of the first German side of the Nvidia (fraud) reported excuse Quote:
"Nvidia has to date specifications of the GeForce GTX 970 declared wrong and corrects months after publication. It should have been a miscommunication between the engineers and the technical press department, said Nvidia's chief architect for the Maxwell graphics cards models, Jonah albums.
As suspected by Golem.de properly Nvidia has disabled when the GTX 970 the L2 cache of a GDDR5 controller, ie one eighth of the fast intermediate buffer. Instead of 2,048 of the graphics card are only 1,792 Kbyte available. Thus, two 32-bit controllers have to share a 256-Kbyte L2 partition what the speed partly significantly reduced. "
One can at Amazon poorly many pages that link report it, so please just use Google and enter keywords like "GTX 970 fraud" or "GTX 970 4GB no". There is plenty of contributions to Nvidia has known this all and the card still output outrageously expensive - an apology from Nvidia way, is not in sight.
This applies to all GTX 970 cards, no matter what manufacturer.
With best regards
