Alternative Pop discs are fairly rare and the more it amazes me that this young lady is completely rushed past me. It takes as often happens in these things some time to purely listen to. The key for me was Breaking It Up Tonight and that drives me to buy. I should not be disappointed. Many of the songs are rather quiet and are rather minmalistischer. Often you get the feeling that they very cleverly puts together sound collages. Especially also always fall on the percussive elements on which to build many of the songs, while her voice floats above it all. Lykke Li's way of singing is very unusual, but fits very well with her. It affects not only vocally very girlish. Overall, we must also praise the tension of the album. While I'm Good I'm Gone, Little Bit and Breaking It Up most alluring, the pacing, between rather quieter sounds are gathered. Right there lies my complaint, which costs the album the fifth star. Although the quieter songs are good quality and are collected by the order of the songs, so another faster song more and a slower less the album would still help to more dynamic and a little drowsiness rausnehmen. It is worth mentioning in my eyes and the song Until We Bleed, which she recorded with Kleerup, but is not on the album. That would fit wonderfully into the overall context of the album.
I would like to highlight the booklet and the whole artwork. Such a beautiful and loving design with all the texts you can see rare and fits very well with the music, so you get a total of round work. A shame, who only invites the album from the Internet.
As a conclusion can be drawn only that Lykke Li has made a good start with their debut. The even on their own label; this takes a lot of courage! Here and there is something missing at pace, but they compensate with innovative ideas as in Trumpet In My Head, unusual melodies as in I'm Good, I'm Gone and the sugar-sweet vocals like in Little Bit and Time Flies. From her you will certainly hear more in the future!
