My (Windows) PC to the living room looking connection. No problem I thought the graphics card (ATI 7870) has indeed an HDMI port. So cable ran and what is going on? Picture yes, no sound! Receiver and TV support supposedly no sound streaming! But there is still the DisplayPort. What looked Matching (with guaranteed sound transmission) and this adapter here found an attractive price. Thanks to fast delivery, I could try to fix whether now solved the problem. Adapter in the DisplayPort card, HDMI cable into the appropriate socket and then the cable to the receiver / TV. Behold, AMD HDMI Audio can I choose now - also the sound transmission works now. On the additional device the compressed audio formats supported are correctly identified (Dolby Digital, DTS, etc. - also True HD).
A small note for all the "look carefully": the picture does not match the product, is contradictory. Pictured (March 2013) was an adapter with HDMI jack and mini-HDMI connector, so not as advertised with a Mini DisplayPort connector. But do not worry is delivered, the advertised adapter, so with Mini DisplayPort connector! Perhaps the picture is still substituted so that no one will be confused.
My conclusion: Prima HDMI adapter, super processed for great price!
