From her subjective impression I level regarding both a light color and beam angle as well. Regarding brightness exceeds a 35W halogen Philips safe and also replaces a 50W. The Osram is even brighter and exceeds the 50W halogen. The comparison with halogen is difficult because it also there big differences between brands and quality are no-name products ..... and personally I could not even tell the difference between 35W and 50W sometimes.
The objective data of a small comparative measurement supporting the subjective impression of brightness (as a halogen reference I had unfortunately only 35W halogen bulbs from Discounter are available, but for an estimate safe enough). The spots were installed in a ceiling lighting was measured on the ground directly below it - ie in 2.5m distance:
Halogen, 35W (discounters): 100 Lux
LED 5W / 270Lumen (Philips): 130 Lux
LED 7.5W / 390Lumen (Osram): 200 Lux
The Osram incidentally both versions were installed (Star and Superstar), apart from the life and dimming are but identical. In the Philips I have installed the previous version with 5.5W, also no difference.
