Revell 23970 Control - Mini Quadrocopter Nano, white (toy)

Customer Review

My previous flying experience was limited to small battery-Helicopter (3- and 4-channel, in Mode 1 and 2), whose possibilities have been exhausted but quickly. The Revell Nano Quadcopter I bought quite spontaneously and rather out of curiosity, but without too much expectations.

All the greater was the surprise of how much flying hereby differs, and how much "new" fun it is!

Where the mini-helicopter can be rather sluggish persuade them to flight in one direction, you have to or curb this quadricopter downright so agile he flits through your own home - and as fast as he flies outdoors. There even better, since the resulting closed space air turbulence disappear. Our 18x12m garden was barely enough, in order to test the limits, so I once played on a stretch right gas - madness, as the part's going! Clearly it is susceptible to wind - but has so much reserves it effortlessly arrives to gentle breezes. On the contrary, the fun in between shrubs and trees will begin then only really. Aside from crosswind sensitivity it is very stable in the air. At the same time he has hardly own inertia, but reacts fast - sometimes even almost "to" fast. At the short control paths of very small remote control you have to first get used (there is no slow "beginner mode"), but then it works very precisely. The coordination with the very good working gyro control seems very harmonious to me.

The problem is that the range of the remote control is significantly higher than the limits of visibility - and has rapidly reached at the midget. Then to guess in which direction he is looking to him specifically retrieve, is often a challenge. But one really finds him again still quite good, because it shines so bright ...

And here are the disadvantages of this model: The propellers are not protected and made fairly rigid plastic. Since they usually have the first contact with obstacles, she likes to break. The four supplied spare propellers I had in the first 30 flights worn (strangely enough, always just behind, spare rotors cost eg in Revell Shipping only EUR 2 per set). A SMD-LED has already gefetzt of the board (or bitten by the cat?), And the charging plug is always shaky. Say, a long shelf life is the quadricopter probably not have a total - just a rather entertaining fun.

The battery could replace though, as provided with plug-in connection - but it is not designed as a removable battery. So come on a few minutes of fun an hour cooling and charging time. The frustrated at times, because you never 'comes in the fly so correctly. As a small flaw is also to mention that a trimming of the rotation is missing me what's sometimes ugly at some worn rotors (usually but he keeps his focus quite well).
For these restrictions - mainly due to the short flight time and the long forced breaks - I draw from a total of (scarce) star.

There are quite other devices in a similar price range (eg Hubsan 107 X4), which offer a removable battery, comparable agile and can be equipped with a rotor protection. Here is a much longer-term fun (both per flight round, as well as overall survival time) to be expected. But: the Hubsan is (with propeller) already about twice the size, and it is this tiny paired with the "perceived power" makes the Revell-Quadcopter a special experience - and makes real appetite for more!

In my case, the "more" has become a U818A (because of the dimensions of better visibility in high-altitude flights for Videoaufnamen). Still, I always like to fly the quadricopter mini - to train indoor, and because it's just great fun unchanged. At least until he again has to the charger when you have just flown.

Would I buy it to me again? Difficult. The fun factor is high, and I regret the purchase in any case. Next, I'd rather set the Hubsan because I have a bigger "fun reserve" expect here. The Revell will always find its niche - be it as an ideal office toy!

Tell the Revell I would only if you already have some experience with Mode-2 remote, or enough patience to fly in this unit - but what is likely to be much easier when Quadcoptern than helicopters.
