Tip for cafetiere beginners: powder into the pot, pour half full of boiling water, let sit about half a minute foam and then top up with hot water. So do not make right the first pouring brim and think that's it, then the pot is in fact really only half full and the other half is foam. I fill the pot with the second cast really brimming and then set only the lid on. The spillover described herein upon depression of the plunger is also an operating error: The cap must be turned to "pouring" and the punch slowly and with feeling (!!) down to one or two centimeters. Then pull the plunger again to the top, then press down again. Thus, the coffee powder sinks to the bottom of the pot and you can press a lot easier and it sloshes nix. The best way to observe this in a glass cafetiere :-)
The insulating capacity of the pot is not as bad as some write here, but of course not comparable to a real thermos. A leisurely breakfast but not a problem.
From me five stars because great design, great functionality and decent price. And of course: great coffee!
