funky! how it all began ...

I listen to this, Madonna's first album still super happy and find it better than eg the successor "Like a Virgin" and "true blue".
plain it is produced totally simplistic, but you have to see in the temporal context; In addition, Madonna was at that time relatively unknown yet and could not (as now) the sound-tinkerers to gather the world's best.
But precisely because the album exudes such a playful freshness and by the way, it is also extremely funky! My favorite is "lucky star" - not least because I will always remember when listening to the funny video, in which the then ultimate Madonna-look can be admired. "Lucky Star" is ideally suited for abtanzen neat! also "think of me" is quite bold `s blood. "Burning Up" was second (after the rather bad "Everybody") Madonna's single. very cool, with a decidedly lascivious aggressive madonna. Kontrastprogramm offers "borderline", a sugar-sweet mid-tempo song, actually almost a ballad. All in all, this album is pretty versatile and includes up to said "everybody" (of which there are but now very good remixes) and "I Know It" decent to very good songs. and it comes from a woman who has one time predicted a mayfly existence at pop-sky. Well, we all know that it turned out quite differently ...
