The title of my review says it all. This picaresque novel will offer unforgettable moments reading (first part anyway). We dive in rural Russia and often laugh portraits of individuals rather extravagant and yet realistic. The images of that Russia will leave lasting memories. I prefer not to say too much ... However, the second part fits badly with the beginning of the novel (as Gogol has changed in the meantime!). Whatever! The end, which feels too mystical aspirations and blind author, only reinforces the sublime of the first part, including the incomplete nature may be an unintended stroke of genius.
