The case is not only compact, it is also quite well-made. Plastic may seem to many cheap, but it is an excellent material with which one also such stability and can even create a feeling-quality impression. I is not done, the display too delicate, I do think that it is a surprisingly long time to do when properly used its service. For me, certainly, because discretion is the better of camera equipment!
The image display is good, there were D-SLR with worse display! But I'm talking about a high-quality compact camera, and because I find it reasonably well.

On top can attach a Canon flash system. Who has a certain flash demand, which should thus be determined happy. However, the camera attitude changes quite dramatically when setting up a Speedlight 580 EX II! Better fits an old 220 EX and the newer 270 EX and 270 EX II.

The optics delivers surprisingly good quality, of course, only with the sensor used. Anyone who uses no external RAW converter, will bring the right quality understanding of the JPEG results. One uses the RAW format (a combination is fortunately possible), you can get even more from the images out. Then also the following weaknesses can be edited:
-very strong distortion in the WW area (which is not always clear, but can of course!)
-gelegentlich chromatic aberration (can be treated subsequently slightly)
-depending on light / exposure to occur brightness demolitions on (can partly. also resolved by RAW converters)
The image stabilization is useful and can be switched off for tripod use.

The lens extends electrically in two parts, and then has an appreciable length. Of course it is quite delicate, and certainly not strong enough to strike, because one should pay attention on it. Also a result of compactness, can be accused neither camera nor engineers.
The lens cover is in kind with compact usual, but also quite delicate and easily. A closed lid is clearly better and would have here in my opinion can also be realized. This is my only negative criticism of the camera.
I would therefore advise in any case to an ordinary pocket with appropriate feeding. Even otherwise, you should always take good care of this little companion because you come in principle to at the thinnest point, and caused unnecessary damage.

For my purposes, it fits surprisingly well, I think it is normal that you have to be willing to compromise and also getting used in any product choice.
