The advantages of an external charger for the Sony camcorders were already recognized elsewhere.
Here there is a very reasonably priced set, even with car adapter.
We have already ordered to a 2nd battery (non-genuine Sony).

The charger came and made a pretty solid impression. However, it invited to only one of the two batteries. By contrast, both were right on the camcorder are loaded - so broken charger, probably due to manufacturing tolerances at the charging contacts.

The replacement was then completely OK and doing for a good six months still easily their service.

So, an attempt is worth the charger, but only if enough time is available for the exchange!
