When this book came out it seems like it was an event of some SF "Una revolution"!
I'm obviously rereading but I vividly remember my first impression of the first
... Pages:
A culture agent gets up and leaves home very soon he meets robots that are friendly or stubborn ..
Often friendly or playful mood and more or less with humor but above of all: citizens - although not all -) of this fabulous company:
Culture and it made me a shock and so excited !!
Culture is an exquisite universe and each volume has a unique character to play in the order you want ...
The prose of the author strives to each novel of the cycle to highlight some aspect of this civilization:
which is either a true main theme with its derivative themes ...
The author uses most often the emergence of another outside the civilization to develop a particular topic ..
The style is top! one would think ... there is and we forget that culture does not exist because the author never takes his foot in it lurking ...

In this volume the context is one of the less high-tech in this cycle because of the company's development level contacted ..
On one side we have a huge organization devoted to the welfare of its human and other nationals who risk nothing worse than being bored ...
And on the other expansionary empire probably convince you that happiness is not of this world ... -sourires-
Simplistic opposition? not at all! and as a bonus a walk in SF universe from his store: the scale and scope ..

No simplistic AT ALL because the Culture is not always an ideal neighbor!
Why? and well because: she wants your well you see!
