Getting used to but recommended

When buying a new notebook I decided ultimately for Windows 8.1. as the operating system. The main reason was the finding that Acer for Windows 7 did not provide drivers for my device. Thus, I wanted to save myself the time-consuming search for the latest device drivers and chose the easy way out.

Installation proved to be no problem. Simply insert the disk, follow the instructions and select the boot partition (in my case a SSD hard drive). A bit annoying I found only the demand equal to having to create an account at Microsoft. After installation is complete (went relatively quickly, guess max. 30 minutes) a majority of the drivers were already installed.

Then just load the notebook drivers from Acer and the unit worked perfectly.
The installation thus designed quickly and easily.

I then really only a few basic settings have been made. On the one hand I chose when starting the desktop version because I want to work mainly with the notebook. The key for me programs I've stored directly on the desktop as shortcuts. Additionally, I have charged me a freeware, with which I can type a start button Add. Thus, one can here quite simple, at least to the basic settings, go.

The installation of the necessary programs for me also proceeded without problems.

The tile view is nice to look at, but I believe that a gimmick with which I can not do anything. So I can not say much at the moment. I will probably never use this view.

Conclusion:
An operating system that you indeed have to get used a bit, especially since certain features to which one had become accustomed over the years, no longer as available, but which until now completely reliable (so far not a single crash) that does what it should.
Positive also occurred to me that it seems to be really fast. In particular, with the SSD launches the system within a few seconds not and is ready to work. Even turning off or shutdown goes really fast. So I'm really confident and can recommend it.
