Pro:
- Image quality I find okay
- The Support reacts relatively quickly, is hard, but so far could only be used for small items.
- Comprehensive and flexible configuration.
- Notifications on many different systems possible (FTP, Samba, HTTP, e-mail)
- Save to SD card, and (actually also) possible Samba share. But the latter is not currently configurable
Cons:
- The file size for event-triggered recording, eg motion detection is limited for some inexplicable reasons, to 3MB. Thus at a resolution of 1280x1024, the movie length, depending on the subject and thus compression to 5-10 seconds is limited. In my case (entrance) there are exactly 5 seconds. This is a knock-out criterion for me. I want times not enter that in the surface of the maximum file size is represented with 3072 bytes, not the well-intentioned actually 3072 kbytes.
- Poor manual: It is described only as much as one can imagine based on designations for the item in the surface anyway. Further explanations or contexts are not explained. For example format for the time: This is highly customizable but if you do not know the Linux parameters for the individual values (% d for day,% m for month,% M for minutes, etc.), it is difficult because the unfortunately is not described at all.
- Handling and configuration difficult and awkward, but doable with a little tinkering
- The Network light will not turn off. When the IP Cam is integrated via WLAN LED is always on.
- In the system log, a time-sync message appears every 2 seconds ("... TL-SC3230N user.debug kernel: Abnormal time diff = 11 ms"). This is not serious, but with over 43,000 such messages per day the log is unusable for analysis.
- The possibility of event-triggered recordings to be stored on a Samba share is not activated (grayed out), although is a Samba share furnished and accessible.
Somehow I feel as sometimes sold by one or the other manufacturer for stupid before, if I as a customer again and again the beta or even alpha tester games, although I have paid the full product price. The product is actually really good and very flexible. But the firmware / software best alpha status and can not do what they can according to data definitely should.
I've been buying the support in contact and still hope that a solution or a firmware update for the grossest blunders are and IP Cam would be retained also. But as it is now, it is just unusable. I will report here, if there is something new.
Again, I would point out that this is my personal opinion and subjective and based on my specific impressions and experiences. However, I beg definitely about my subjective opinion and experience, but to accept such. Who has other views, the course like to make relevant or best create your own review.
EDIT, 24.05.2013: The problem with the Samba share is now solved. It remains for me, "only" the main problem with the file size and the thus limited to about 5 seconds recording time. The support has probably passed on this development and I get information as soon as there is any news.
