Those who expect a Grinder with blade knife that she has continuously produced perfectly homogeneous ground coffee is not sufficiently informed. The OHA taste experience begins for the novice when it comes to coffee, but has previously resorted to of bags of Aldi even at this mill. I have the Lavazza Crema Cafe Classico and the Alnatura own-brand espresso each ground packed and compared freshly ground in the Cloer and there are worlds between.
About half a year, the Cloer done faithful service and I recently had a soft little "more professional" grinder with adjustable conical grinder. These are the reasons why:
- Curiosity: When the difference between finished and freshly ground coffee is already so great, is actually still room up?
- Filter coffee: Thanks to the increase in quality of my Bialettiexperimente I screwed me my taste. Filter coffee from the bag no longer tastes. The Cloer can unfortunately not grind coffee for Handaufbrühen. Since the ground beans do not fall into a container, they are increasingly crushed. Thus, a certain proportion of fine dust in the coffee can not be avoided, the result: A water storage when handling filters and disgusting coffee in the cup. Can remedy it by using twice the amount of coffee and half thrown out or very coarse grinds and used in accordance with more coffee. Both are infinite waste and especially annoying if you really value good coffee and not chasing the cheapest supermarket beans through the grinder.
- French Press: see above, the powder is partially so finely ground that it is flushed through the metal screen in the coffee. The result is a fairly überextrahierter coffee and much powder in my mouth, neither as mine.
- Replicability: Anyone with a little experimentation, various parameters will change during the coffee making. This is fun and also with cheaper beans can be achieved partly significant results with a bit of tact. Unfortunately, all this is useless if you can not hold constant the ground coffee. Seconds count does not help, because the results also turn out here quite different and even subtle changes for untrained taste buds are tasted. I am a creature of habit and if I am prepared me a cappuccino to melt away, I want my lunch guests ungerne Vorsetzen sour dishwater.
Followed by the list of properties that the Cloer not bring, here's a list of the advantages:
- Sufficient for preparation in oven pot at medium claims / beginners
- Fast and relatively quiet (who has referred to the mill as a particularly loud never previously operated another electric grinder)
- Well made, stylish and sophisticated design (removable insert)
- Grinds very fine, may not be fine enough for portafilter (but who can afford a reasonable Siebträgermaschine, should in my opinion be able to lie down for a Grinder with conical grinder and 35 euros more !!!)
Negative I noticed is that the transparent lid attracts coffee powder by static electricity. From the interstices can this not be removed with a cloth, who cares, who must rinse the attachment regularly under running water.
Compared to other mills with rain gauge, the Cloer holds good, which is located on removable container mainly. All negative points (except for the dust collector lid) relate to fly cutter mills in general.
CONCLUSION: As a beginner mill for someone who has never had the idea that freshly ground coffee tastes much better than the bag of product, fully recommended. Who would like to drink filter coffee or coffee from the FP so that is not served. Otherwise, raises the question of the general ambitions: who aims high, needs at Cloer unstoppable who occasionally want to proffer a Käffchen from Bialetti, can save the cost and access safely. Who wants to get a whiff of fresh coffee in the world of time and is considering to extend the fun, maybe should buy a cheaper model to try and then switch to a better mill.
The difference to a good Grinder with conical grinder you can taste the way ;-)
