I discovered on Wikipedia that in fact "the therapeutic use of natural light in medicine dates back to the late 19th century. Its remarkable effect on boosting the immune system and the fight against infections provoked the development of the first techniques light therapy, awarded in 1903 by the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in Danish Niels Ryberg Finsen. [] The discovery of penicillin and mass vaccination campaigns went this less promising approach and she ends up falling almost into oblivion ".
The implementation of EnergyUp lamp (imposing size 38 x 29 cm) does not pose any particular difficulties. Philips recommends using it daily for 20 to 30 minutes, but it is safe to leave it on throughout the day (LEDs consume 24W). It must be placed in the field of view, ideally at a distance of 50-75 cm from the eyes, so that the light bathes the face. There is no need to stare; we can read, eat, use a computer, do gymnastics, etc.
You must operate the lamp, adjusting your body clock:
- People say "evening", active at night and have trouble getting up in the morning should use the lamp during the first 1-2 hours after leaving the bed (not "one to two hours after awakening "as incredibly badly translated in the French version of the record Fortunately the French text is not good, because otherwise light therapy should not almost exclusively to retired and pensioners!);
- People say "morning", which are struggling to stay awake at night, the lamp will use the evening just before bed;
- Have recourse to the lamp in the morning if you are suffering from winter blues, and at noon or afternoon if you diet lower in the afternoon.
I belong to the category of "evening", more and more numerous due to the excessive use of screens and shelves. Given the short time available before departure at work, I use the lamp as a light source extra at breakfast time.
The only downside to this product is its high price.
PS: if you are in the evening, first use a light as the Philips Wake - up Light with LED lamp, two times less expensive, prior to this EnergyUp lamp.
