MS-DOS on Win3.11 to Windows 7 I've had all versions and also with Linux and Apple, I tried it. Ultimately one can not on Windows past, and this was to me all these years and rightly so.
Earlier Windows was happy insulted, but since I know Apple, I see Microsoft as a paradise.
In the office and everyday I am working with Windows, and the possibilities are limitless. May invest lend a hand to the Windows users and even if something does not work, Microsoft does not seek to blame the user. The support is always granted for many years.
The best ever operating system (for me) was to date Windows 7 Very stable, chic, fast (in my i7, SSD drive, 8GB of RAM, laptop)
The Windows 8 download was quick and the installation as well. Defender had to get away and Intel ProSet Wireless / Bluetooth. The launch was quick, and quickly became clear to me: Uhh ... my system boots already under Win7 within 15 seconds Windows 8 is still a bit faster. Quick logged and "AHA" - Metro says "hello".
Schick ... I liked right away, very smooth and easy, easy.
Where is the Desktop? Quick and found everything kappiert quickly, Windows 8 is simple and easily understood. Power-off? Moreover I do not want to talk, very simple and costs Felt 0.5 seconds more time. Who complains about the power-off button, has never had any problems with operating systems.
Where's the mouse? My Bluetooth mouse was first not recognized, but after reinstalling Intel Wireless / Bluetooth mouse was found quickly. With the scroll wheel, the Metro interface is moved back and forth. The control mouse runs fine. Metro is easily usable with a normal PC.
Where is my graphics card? I have a Sony Vaio Z series, with a Power Media Dock (this puts the Radeon card and many ports are on the media dock available). Windows does not want the driver. Only the internal laptop in Intel HD "card" is detected. However: For graphics-intensive applications and games I need my Power Media Dock with the Radeon, also my external monitor is connected to it. No Radeon and no external monitor more. All attempts a suitable driver is accepted. Windows smears from when I try to install the Win7 drivers. But ... I still have hope, Windows is just come out and the necessary drivers will be determined soon provided by ATI, or directly from Sony.
Design? Very beautiful and alive. Colors set set Lockscreen etc. rightly pushed tiles, or extended. The desktop mode has been neutered but very very ...
.... And here comes my dislike.
Too many programs take the user to the desktop over to program start, a constant back - and forth between the old desktop and Metro. If the desktop could the beautiful look of Win7 at least, it would not matter to me yet. However, the desktop was downright shot out of Microsoft, garbled and consistently integrated into Metro. Why so halfheartedly Microsoft? Reminds me of Win95, a fresh start for Microsoft but still very dependent on DOS. So even Windows 8 - a very chic and innovative new way, but with too little consequence. I guess the fear at Microsoft was too great, that no one dares to change when the desktop is gone. Just why just mutilate? The more apps should be available, the more time you will spend with Metro and the desktop will fall completely into the background. But we are not ready, and the desktop was completely loveless treated by Microsoft.
I think Microsoft has embarked on a bold, new way, as it was then with Win95. People have loved Win95, or hated. But over the years, and new developments has shown that it has been the right way. So also with Windows 8 - Microsoft, the foundation has created a new future in the field of operating systems, however, the transition to the new time has been completed only half-heartedly, with great reverence, which Microsoft itself has created over the years.
The path is correct, and I keep Windows 8 (the confidence that I have the correct driver for the dock soon!) The Win8 time, however, I think, really get in until about 2-3 years .. .evtl. with the successor. But the step was necessary. Microsoft Win8 will prevail, for the world is depending too much of Windows, and therefore also the possibly the smartphone market still stir up a little. Windows Phone will not try many (myself I also use Android). However, we are normal users are forced to get to know Win8, the tile appearance, and will probably open also for Windows Smartphone and tablets. (Nokia will be grateful!)
One should also give this opportunity Microsoft. Apple brings out a Phone with NEM Antennenbug, the user complains that he would hold the phone incorrectly (as a nonsense!), And developed Bumper ... (such a crap!) And people say: Ah how cooool, Steve is so good to us. And if Steve says Bumper are great, we love Bumper .... is just one example of many. Alas, no other manufacturer would be such insolence (not technical) permit that would never sell a mobile phone.
So ... let's also Microsoft the chance to break new ground, although these are not always easy, but often imperative. It is said at the end: Why did you never dared what?
