In all the pictures I've taken with ISO Auto 100-400, so far I could detect no noise even with less than optimal lighting conditions. In my IXUS 70 is available from ISO 400 at relatively bright light, a visible image noise. I made the test night shots with ISO 100, 200 and 400. Only at ISO 400 shows a stronger image noise, for even the bricks of the chimney of the house next door are clearly visible (The recordings I have set in the gallery).
For a camera in this class, the Nikon delivers very good images, with the fast focusing and triggering a beneficial effect even with moving subjects.
