DS413J: Actually, my favorite - but I do not need the reliability in one device, because I want to reflect the data on two devices. The processor can not floating point.
DS214se: Actually, the 'newer' model. But: Weaker processor No floating point for images, no schedule power on / off. I do not understand how it can bring a product to market after DS213J.
DS214 and DS414: actually a dream of the equipment. But power consumption and price have then let me cringe but.
Why not both expensive variants: I already have a DS411slim. The is quite weak in comparison - but I am fully satisfied. I've noticed that I do not need a super-fast processor for the images. And the DS213J is the floating point processor already a good deal faster than the DS411slim when editing the preview images. I have the media server, recordings of two Enigma2 receivers, data of 4 users, Photo Station for each user, Time backup and sync all Shared Folders from DS213J running on both devices to DS411slim. And the DS213J just does it.
It may well be times when you can shovel the boxes data that you have to wait long until the job done. Especially many small files (pictures) can brauchen.Für days the initial sync of ~ 2TB mixed data the box about 2 days needed. After that, however, comes afloat, since only the Delta must be transferred.
Here's another tip: Yes, you can leave the boxes to copy data. If you can do all on a PC, it is however much faster. Especially with images. When transferring images should stop creating the preview.
Unfortunately helps not copy to a PC with a configured sync, because you should not intervene here (Existing folders may be renamed and recreated).
I have now ordered my save memory space, a second DS213J which I will set in the basement as sync destination. They will turn on a regular basis and receive the sync. I think currently on once a month for one day. After Sync you should back up the Homes and important shared folders on an external hard drive and then go back to sleep with Time Backup.
I'll run both DS213J with Raid0. My Data security is the second DS213J the quasi always sleeps a whole month and not in use, as well as a USB hard drive with another backup via Time backup.
Here times have my values measured on stream at the DS213J:
From or within the planned 'Off' mode (probably the same, a small front-processor with little power consumption well the schedule is working from): 0.7 Watt
Boat - first plate moves up to 17 watts.
Boat - second plate moves up: briefly to 27 Watt
Without load - running both plates: ~ 15 Watt
Plates at rest: 5 watts, every few seconds (maybe ~ 10s) shows the meter short 5.9 watts. Declared by the manufacturer: 3,65W.
I use both a DS213J with two Western Digital WD40EFRX (4TB). So far, the system is always nice and cool and it remains even in load. My DS411slim is much warmer there.
On the topic Load Cycle Count in the WD RED and Green models: Tools of WD are explained (also with Synology) on various sites on the Internet. I have turned with such tools the park mode for the read-write heads. I seem to remember that the tools have 30 seconds displayed by default. The DS213J shall now sleep after 30 minutes the plates. LCC values are for me only times no problem. The resulting higher runtime engines are likely to loose wake stuck. But the head-Parking is thus significantly minimiert.Und what little power I'll cope.
If me something I'll think of the recession may still expand.

Meanwhile, I have the DS213J a few months in operation. I'm very satisfied. Transfer values for large video files are between 60 and 90 MB per second more often than a Gigabit switch. I have the synchonisation Shared Folders enabled. Once a week, now goes my second DS213J up and receives the Sync. This works fine until now - and since DSM5 the time intervals are better for the sync of shared folders / fine configurable (That was previously only within a day to adjust, now at different intervals).
The External USB hard drive I have omitted. Instead, I have my old DS411slim continue in operation. This is now the time backup destination. This leaves only once a week and then go up to sleep. Thus, I present the data 3 compartment (redundant). In an emergency, the sleeping DS213J can be reconfigured to the main unit. If both DS213J have a problem, I still have the backup on the DS411slim :-)
