good device, but difficult for beginners ...

It makes sense, because the objectives are relatively identical and are not device performance Technically too far apart.

When the unit arrived, I was initially surprised at how small it is very pleasant. Much more than a normal, external 3 1/2 inch external hard drive provides this unit in volume. Also, the body made of solid, thick aluminum is made, what a really good overall emits. The rear and side parts are crammed with interfaces because not a dry eye.

However, the first surprise was the contents of the box. It contained the device, an AC adapter, an HDMI cable (after all), well and a folded A4 page, on the Quick Start standing, but only the connection diagrams contained. Evil knowing I set to an operable computer directly off me everything there is to drivers and PDF document (you can refer from the home page) to download and ever well prepared to pack on a USB disk. A CD or DVD was sought in vain.

Then, the first difference to the one listed in the computer link. This (above) I just needed with all my equipment to connect, turn, assigned user name, finished. After 5 min. was the subject of completely stress-free. Like I had hoped for here, but unfortunately did not. I joined all my equipment and booted ... The computer must first complete a Windows 7 installation, which has felt ever lasted half an hour. Upon completion I had three unknown devices in the Device list.

So I did not want to stop me, because the computer from the outset was designed for Windows 8. I install W8 always downloading, the low it is just in MS. I've done this now frequently and know what to expect. And here the next absurdity. The surf was ans is with IE and Chrome (which I also tried out in my distress, more on that later) always topschnell. However, the download of files trickled in (not a typo) with 20-30 bytes per second. First I thought of a problem with the MS server and also tried other downloads on other sites, but with the same lousy results. Then I installed Chrome (for that I had an installer on a USB drive), but with the same result. This effect was me simply unknown. I only know the case 'Go or no go' but in between so frantically I previously had not.
In the next step I came about to include have to install the above drivers, but lo and behold, they were all in fact already pre-configured integrated in the most recent version from December, despite that W7 still had to finish installing.

Consequently, it lasted until I came up with the solution. It was the firewall. I shut rigorously and then we went just fine with the DL. Here I would be interested how it went other buyers. I DSL6000 / Telekom connected to 'nem Speedport modem and wired. Because at the time there was nothing individual installed, it would actually be like other issued. The default firewall settings are, in my opinion for a ton.

The Windows 8 installation went perfectly and after I was so then, my devices were all known.
The Windows Experience Index provides 5.7, due to the slow plate. The rest ran well, as you would expect, so the system will go a lot. , I have but I will mention at least, often feel that I have a 100-200 millisecond lag at all possible actions, not really disturbing but striking. Runs what you wanted to start, it's also full throttle, but just start .... produces these lags. However, this may be due also to the fact that I had the above system from the link directly donated an SSD and I'm just not used to, without added.

The performance is so very very neat and showing the part also. that is fun. So plus.
The test reports found fault in temperature development I can confirm the device is I have so much warm but soooo dramatic as described can not manage even under load. And most important, I will not want to also have different, because: There are really no more noise. When I write, you can have the appliance is also next to the bed, then you can really use the same way. That was not my main intention, but I like it now _sehr_ spontaneously. After almost a week now everything is ready. However, the lag remained. Here I can say to the effect ever more to the effect, as it probably has nothing to do with the action that you are doing on the computer, but these sporadic, I would tap times in minutes rhythm, occur. Again summarized. These lags .... I, supra, already noticed immediately after finishing installation of W7. They have been preserved after installing W8. In addition to the drivers of the homepage only Dropbox and Truecrypt has so far on it with me for additional programs. Very manageable and I would think you'd have to untestellen that could not get through a faulty operation on my part there. I will pursue the issue further, for example by trying to fix BIOS Settings. Failure to do, I tend to point deduction.

Supplement 2 (19.02.2013)
I have, after all this time, can solve the problem with the lag. It's so easy, been as annoying. My last entry in the comments of this review made me basically it. The box controls to itself when it feels too heavily loaded. In short, I have in the bios the minimum temperature of 2 degrees regulated up to now 62 degrees and the fan voltage increased by 1V to 5V now. Done. That was enough to the part now to let through absolutely clean.
In essence, only 2 things left over from the whole Sermon, I wrote here, so really: The Firewall Settings are in default unusable, you should turn off for installation first, or take another. Point 2 is to regulate the temperature limit. I think that the 2 degrees increase for the summer will not be sufficient, but with the offered reserves I'll get along. As this virtually the only two (but actually completely unnecessary, hint Arctic ...) nerve points and had the device now runs super nice, I have raised from 4 to 5 stars.
