Although the headphone output of the motherboard is really good, bringing the SD-793 a little konturiertere bass and above all, more levels on my Sennheiser HD-580th However, the little one has hardly reserves, this 300 ohm receiver, otherwise the sound is compressed very tightly and acts.
Hard distortions, as in clipping does not exist there.
Addendum: Also on a 600Ohm listener makes the SMSL good services.
Although one has to turn the pot further, but he does not distort.
At the RCA output of my SMSL STAX connected SRM1-MK-2 Class-A headphone amplifier.
This drives my electrostatic STAX SR-5 gold headphones.
Resolution and fine detail can hardly be desired and confirm the SD-793-II a just decent quality, as in my stereo.
The advantage of my setup is, inter alia, that there is no ground loop hum by the STAX amplifier, because the little one is optically coupled.
I would be completely satisfied with the purchase, since both the sound, function and processing (inside and out) are well,
were it not for the supplied power adapter.
The PSU has 9V / 1.3A and works unobtrusively.
However, an adapter of US power outlets supplied on EURO sockets, which is not allowed in the EU,
since he has full contacts and not partially insulated pins, as prescribed for Euro plug.
The adapter has no CE marking and therefore must not be sold in the EU.
The PSU has no CE marking, still required for USA UL listing.
Without CE it can not be sold in the EU.
Without UL listing, or GS-testing stage I the power source than uncertain.
Who wants to still use the power supply, I advise at least a safe trip plug, with partly insulated contacts to buy, and this to stick permanently.
Meanwhile, I have installed on my PC a parametric equalizer, which allows fine-tuning.

Supplement April 2015:
After nunmher several weeks' break-in period "which I call habituation, I'm still excited.
The newly added, overhauled and modified Sennheiser HD560-Ovation-II plays really well on SMSL and confirms my initial assessment.
The contoured and gnarled bass, almost at the level of electrostatic, are worth it to have this amp.
This is a "best-buy" as he stands in the book.
