For a longer stay abroad cameras with standard AA batteries are best. My Nikon L320 does this get as much electricity the normal Ni-MH battery after a few pictures. Because at my destination -30 degrees and more were expected to socket shortage, I Lithium Battery's equal discarded. Lithium batteries, however, are, according to advertising also work at -40 degrees. With 2 sets of batteries I took 3500 pictures in 4 weeks at the highest resolution and some hours of film. All this at outside temperatures in winter Siberia and Lake Baikal from -35 to -5 degrees in February 2014. The cameras with normal lithium battery often failed outdoors after a few minutes.
