Where I am definitely less happy is when Tomtom sabotages the operation of the unit if you do not do the updates (I'm talking about system updates, no maps). The change in French law on traffic radar has led Tomtom rework the mode of operation of the unit in France and therefore an update "binding" is out. I did not do this update right away, it earned me a change to start the operation, namely the need to reset the GPS at each switch, with a startup time beauuuuuuuuucoup longer, otherwise the device does not satellite TV reception. Once the update has been made, miracle, detection satellite is again absolutely normal! No need to reset.
I do not too much like Tomtom intentionally sabotaging my device to force me to do an update, so that if I were to buy a new device, I would be much less committed to staying true to Tomtom. It is a question of principle which does not affect the "normal" functioning of the GPS, but hey, that's it.
