For the actual game watchdog (WD): it is in my opinion better than its reputation in various forums and meetings. I have not compared point by point with GTA, because the m. E. is simply not justified. Both are Open World Games, yeah, and both play in cities. But the playful approach is not entirely congruent. Where you had to sneak already great in GTA? Where the technology use, as in WD? Some complain that the protagonist remains pale in WD, you can not put yourself in him right into it. In GTA V I did not identify with Trevor Phillips personally - he was a an exaggerated character (how many in GTA), who could be entertaining, but certainly was not an ideal picture, the one wanted to emulate in every point, if you're honest. Many other character in GTA were not "real", but stereotypes that were absolutely first class, especially in GTA black humor plays a big role.
When the WD is not the case. WD is cooler, more distant. Several minor character are also interesting, but never tries to follow the (successful) oversubscription of the GTA. The world in WD is accordingly even more realistic. Aiden, the protagonist of the game, is not a popular figure, much could have been deepening / need. But frankly: a man who as he has to process a trauma (the death of his niece) must be of a loosely-fuzzy type, always cheerful and fun? The story at WD's quite not bad and takes a lot of problems today on the networking of the society that not only has advantages (which are obvious), but also a lot of hidden risks. Volunteers would entrust the state hardly such personal data that you posting today willingly in social media open. If the NSA scandal has shown a, then how easy it is but the transparent citizen - without a totalitarian surveillance state as in 1984th
The story at WD has weaknesses and the game design is not perfect down to the last Nano - yet I felt WD surprisingly entertaining. The game world is huge, the graphics really nice (Chicago at night and in the rain!) And running (of course on the appropriate) PC also liquid (with me: i5 4670, 16GB of RAM and Geforce GTX 760). The missions are quite varied and the use of networked technology is fun and is well integrated into the game.
Is WD a GTA killer game? Certainly not. Will the hype? I would say only conditionally. Is it a bad game? Emphatically (I say quite a skeptic before the release) no! GTA were not perfect at the beginning and although UBI has enough experience with Open World, WD's more of a good start. The freestyle is missed, but the game itself and of itself is fun - and certainly also at the one point or another thoughtful. That's more than can be said of many other games.
ps: the control PC with a keyboard and mouse is suboptimal, the feeling with the Xbox gamepad for the PC, however, is great.
