Here Once a few basic data about the Acer Aspire XC-705:
Dimensions: width 10cm, height 28cm, depth 38cm
The fan of the power supply has a diameter of 5cm. The fan on the CPU has 9cm diameter. I have screwed housing, this are 2 screws to remove and destroying the Acer guarantee sticker, but mine is not important. Since the past 18 years no PC had a warranty claim.
The additionally built graphics card Radeon R7 has its own fan, which is however just above the ground (on the image to see below). Connection via HDMI via the separate graphics card and not to onboard HDMI. However, the HDMI port is too close to the edge of the case 'clearly visible on one of the pictures
There are installed 2x 4GB RAM. If you want to expand, a module is no simple supplement needs to be replaced, possible.
The housing interior looks very tidy and has at the edge a pretty big hole field, where the air / heat can escape.
Built 1TB hard drive is a hybrid hard drive with 8 GB SSD cache, this makes the Windows Start noticeable very quickly. Otherwise, I can no major differences in performance to other systems notice with respect to the hybrid hard drive.
In the picture from the back all the connections are visible. Back there is only USB 2.0, these are front 2x USB 3.0 ports. But if you want to permanently connect a USB hard drive, this can back only via USB 2.0 'shame!
Now on to the system:
The basic installation with Windows 8.1 and various other software is standard nowadays. I always uninstall the beginning the additional software and let Windows and manufacturer-typical (important) software on it. After the Windows update is carried out, or on the update packs.
The Microsoft Office trial I uninstall always immediately. I bought 2010 Version me a online Office.
What else you need for software that is fundamentally at each user different and must be adapted to the individual needs. Who special graphics software needs, which must previously check the hardware requirements of the software and compare it with the hardware of the XC-705.
Graphics performance:
I now and then the game Asphalt 8 play directly from the AppStore, even for free. Here there is no stuttering or any other abnormality. This is anyway a great advantage of Windows 8 or 8.1 of the App Store, there are many apps with which you can customize it for your PC individually. Games, news, tools, many even for free.
Volume level:
I have the XC-705 connected to my 47 "LED TV, so to speak, as a home theater center. The racing game Asphalt 8 also makes 1.5m watching television a lot of fun. While the games do not you hear the PC. Even after playing when the PC must recool still, I think the volume of very pleasant. And only in office use one hears only a very slight hum, disturbing in any way.
The DVD drive has never been in operation since by now almost everything is available for download online. The internal function I do not need.
Conclusion:
The PC is by its mass beautifully compact, unlike old midi towers. The XC-705 can be stored on the desk, this one must however take into account the depth of 38cm. I am very pleased with the intrinsic values of the XC-705 and retaining the look but also very appealing.
The only downside: the back is not USB 3.0.
