Have bought the satellite receiver TechniSat Digit ISIO S1 in July 2012 and so far 2 weeks Add operation. So far, I can only report positive.
Tried so far: TV SD and HD channels via HDMI and recordings on an external USB HD (housing Onnto AT-S111 with 768GB hard drive, FAT32). Both television and HDD recordings are flawless. It always comes tone and the picture is perfect, both recordings of SD and HD channels (no stuttering, etc.).
I did not, fortunately, reported by others problems. Others report that often no sound, the device can often not be switched off or switching to another program lasts forever. Works for me everything properly.
At first I had problems with hard disk images that I have from my other receiver (Technisat ISIO Digicorder S2 with built-in 512 GB hard disk) exported to the external USB drive and then looked at the ISIO S1. Some shots had startup problems with the sound: The first few seconds there was tone-outs, but after a few seconds they disappeared and for the rest of the recording, there was no sound problems. After I S1 the latest software on the DIGIT ISIO intalliert (2.49.0.8.-1931i from 25.7.2012), this problem disappeared completely. Only one (of 50) of these export recordings is no sound and the picture freezes about every 3 seconds a short. Before software upgrade had this recording only the sound problem in the first few seconds, and there was no Bildeinfrierer. Only after the software upgrade is in this recording no sound and the problem with the freezing of the image every 3 seconds occurs. However, since all other export recordings function properly, I can live without that. Is either a software problem that occurs only with export recordings and rarely, or in this recording is anything broken. Recordings that I made with the DIGIT ISIO S1, have no problems with sound and image.
Radio, Internet and HbbTV I have not tried yet. Will report later.
The so far only negative point of criticism are the long turn-on and turn-off times. The long ON time refers to the normal standby mode. The unit has two standby modes: "normal" and "Quick Start". From the normal mode switching takes about 30 seconds, until a TV picture appears. I have not yet auspropiert the QuickStart mode. The manual states that the unit is in quick start mode requires more power than the normal standby.
Noticed Positv me that the external USB hard drive is shut down when it is a time of inactivity. Will measure time, how long it takes until the panel is turned off and publish the time here. Could also be that the shutdown is a function of hard drive, but that is unlikely.
Positives:
+ Very good TV picture (SD and HD)
+ Very good picture and very good sound of HDD recordings (SD and HD)
+ No fan, the device can not be heard
+ Very good facilities (HbbTV, Internet access, LAN interface, etc.)
+ Chic design
+ Small enclosure
+ External hard drive is switched off when not in use, and turned on again when required (2.5-inch disk, connection and power supply via USB)
Negatives:
- Long-time (approximately 30 seconds) from the normal standby mode
When I tried out other functions, I will extend this report.
I forgive 4 of 5 stars.

The external USB disk is switched off after about 5 minutes.
In the quick start mode, the device takes about 5 seconds until the TV picture appears.
Software Update 2012 is really bad:
I reduce my rating of 4 to 3 stars because I recently the Technisat much heralded software update in 2012 recorded (2.52.0.1-2303) with HTML5 support (finally!) And other functions. Since then there have picture disturbances (every few minutes horizontal stripes and Grieseln as with bad reception) with Timeshift and HDD recordings. The artifacts were also included. Have therefore the old software replayed (2.49.0.8-1931i) and turned down at the Technisat Customer Service. He has informed me friendly, that they are working on an improved Sofware and asked for patience. Other users of the device report indeed of significant problems with previous software updates. It's disappointing that in a software upgrade image errors occur during an important function like hard disk recordings. In addition, when importing the old software the program list are (downgrade) any settings incl. Lost. So rehire all new - very annoying. When you upgrade to the new version, the settings are retained.
Update the review (18/12/2012)
-----------------------------------------
Have been a few days, the latest software 2.52.0.2-2303b in use. The image disorders in HDD recordings and timeshift have now disappeared.
Meanwhile, I have the power of the Internet-Connected (with a WiFi Internet Adapter Netgear WNCE3001). Access to HbbTV / media centers (ARD, ZDF, Arte) works well.
Update the review (08.01.2013)
-----------------------------------------
Furthermore 2.52.0.2-2303b in use. Is stable.
Meanwhile, I have a second TechniSat Digit ISIO S1 bought and both work well.
+ The switch from the normal standby is now significantly shorter (10 seconds earlier 30)
+ The switch from the quick start mode is also much shorter: 1 second, previously 5)
+ The turn-off time is now much shorter: less than 1 second, previously 5-10)
+ External hard drive can be formatted with NTFS; available in several forums on the Internet, that NTFS is not supported but only FAT32 and TSD; that's wrong, NTFS is also; My external drive is formatted with NTFS, and it works well; When Technisat has introduced the NTFS support, I do not know
+ The MyTechniSat app for the iPhone works well, both the Fernbedienungsfuntion Wi-Fi as well as timer query via Internet and Programming via EPG and Internet
+ An external hard drive I run a Western Digital My Passport, 2.5 inches, 2 TB; Connection and power supply via USB; works well, the board has no teething problems (when starting requires a hard drive so more power)
+ Software MediaPort and Techniport Plus Beta also works in a virtual machine on a MacBook Pro with Parallels and Windows XP; searching the Digit Isio S1 was difficult, I had to search several times and start running with different options until the receiver was finally found; after both receivers are now stored in the software, they are found right away if they can be accessed via wireless
TechniSat is legitimately repeatedly criticized because they sell devices with software that does not work well. Or because they publish software updates that do not work well. I can confirm that. However, I have had positive experiences with the TechniSat support. Have repeatedly reported problems and every time get an answer that is working on the solution and that should I wait a bit, because the creation of a new software version takes some time to complete. If after a few weeks then a new software has been released, the described problem I had resolved. That was so, a DigiCorder HD S2 500GB hard drive also at my previous Receicer of Technisat. Even with this device, it needed some software updates until everything ran smoothly, although there were fewer problems than with the Digit ISIO S1.
The software is probably not sufficiently tested, bervor it is released. That's a shame, because it damages the reputation of TechniSat and their equipment. To my knowledge, the unit will be developed in the Eifel and produced, as well as the software. I gladly supported German companies, by buying German products, but the Qual must be true, otherwise does not fit the reputation of the "Made in Germany".
