Good HDD Dock

I have a home server to which among other things I'm doing my backup. These multiple USB HDDs were connected, which were then combined into mirrored drives. For internal hard drives on the one hand is not enough of course, on the other hand I would have in an exchange shut down the server and disassemble it, I'm tired. But about once a quarter has a USB hard drive passed away, sometimes it was the controller of the USB HDD enclosure, sometimes the hard drive itself. This is me then too annoying and too expensive.

For over half a year now I have two Lindy docks, each equipped with server hard drives and since then is rest: everything is going as it should run without failures. Having just reported my last remaining normal USB hard drive failure is also replaces them with a third Lindy dock and two server boards to increase both capacity and data security (the two disks are then mirrored on three hard drives).

Even if times should a disk fail, I can replace them quickly and easily thanks to the docking station without having to take a screwdriver in his hand. Bottom line, the solution with these docks is cheaper, more reliable and more comfortable than the normal USB hard drives.

Addendum: Since the above review more than a year has passed, I've gotten three Lindy docking stations with server-grade hard drives in continuous operation (24/7) and so far not a single failure. I am absolutely satisfied. "Normal" USB hard drives (which are just completely buys with housing) are simply not designed for continuous operation, how do I get now confirmed by the good server hard disks and the Lindy docking stations. The acquisition costs were indeed higher, but overall me comes the cheaper because not just constantly turn the plates (also protects the nerves). On top of that allow the docking station to connect me twice as many hard drives, since two per USB port available.

Update 2: Now, in January 2013 and the first docking station has left the service. Although is a pity, but because it is so continuous operation I am still with price / performance ratio is absolutely satisfied and I ordered appropriate replacement.

Addendum 3: Turns out that had not given up the docking station but the power supply. After half a year later, a second power supply was gone, I turned to the Lindy Customer Service and get replaced without hesitation the power supplies. Really great! Thus, I have four functional docking stations now and am very happy when I again need docking stations or will replace the current through USB 3.0 versions, then I'll definitely buy again Lindy devices.
