I have 2 of these 3.5 "case with 1x 2TB WD Caviar Green 20EARS on iMac 27" MID 2011th The hard disks were available, and should on Imac absorb the iTunes library, and Time Machine backups. Both works and the housing fit visually for Imac. The installation of hard drives is easy, but the adhesive feet should not be stuck on the spaces provided on the housing screws when the case should be reopened. Otherwise, the rigid FireWire 800 cable in operation should not be possible to move there with me here already disconnections are carried out, thereby annoying if the Time Machine backup is no longer readable. USB 3.0 and eSATA I could not test for lack of ports on the Mac. After waking up the Mac from sleep, the hard disk (s) are off and no longer recognized to "The disk was not ejected properly. You should always first eject disks before you disconnect it or turn off" This can obviously only leave when is checked under System Settings "energy saving" the point 'sleep when possible the HDD Enable' NOT.
Conclusion after 1 month:
+ Many ports, thereby future-proof. + No fan, the (aluminum) housing dissipates the heat from the plate well.
+ FW 800 cable included + Optics match the iMac
- Relatively expensive - In FireWire800 unstable by rigid cable connector, thereby becoming a potential loss of data, which is why only 3 stars.
Addendum: 31.01.2015 After prolonged use of these housing had no more problems, so now 5 Stars. All Top!
