The first start was really easy and intuitive of the hand. After the usual queries, such as the language, it quickly found the current position and you could navigate lot.
The touch display is based, unfortunately, still on the old film technology. While this works well and responds quickly, but is not necessarily timely. During the drive, the operator is not always as accurate as you would like it (now please no comments like "During the trip, should not serve you ..."!).
The menu items and icons are self-explanatory, on the whole and a user manual is superfluous. What can be seen immediately on the image itself, explained later than when they enter the menu item.
A very negative for me is the aspect partly. Quite slow linguistic announcement of the path.
The display of the current position is on the map as far as I could find on my previous trips, pretty good (as accurate to 5m, while driving). The announcements are lagging since but every now and then rather afterwards. Sometimes coming announcements only (or repeated), if you have the point raised already happened. I had several times in the event that you should turn and had to drive to the next intersection straight ahead. The announcement to turn, then came after the real turn right before the next intersection. If one were to listen only to the announcement, it would be quite wrong ...
The calculate the route itself, and the current to adjust the route, incl. Storage and Radar (data is loaded via the paired smartphone / updated [after 3 months with costs]) function to the effect quickly and accurately. There were rare problems with the proper display of the new route to be calculated.
The, when you enter the start and finish, the proposed routes, were always well chosen (according to time and length). I had the rarest taken a different route.
An equally negative point for me is setting up an account in order to keep the Navi up to date.
When the GO 60, you have to install a tool on the computer (My Drive Connect), which recognizes the Navi and the final connection to the TomTom server through a browser handles (ie no independent software more like even at my predecessors GO710 and GO730 ).
On my PC, with Windows 7 64 bit, this is, despite countless attempts failed. It was only when I do with my laptop running Windows Vista 32 bit machine tried it worked. Have consulted a number of FAQs, forums and websites, but found no solution.
Using your notebook for the first update but then worked smoothly and without error (over 6 GB update material).
The bottom line is a pretty good Navi during operation and use, but by the above-mentioned shortcomings, I can not recommend a non-technical.
Pros and Cons in a nutshell:
+ Fast route calculation and recalculation
+ Intuitive operation
+ Very easy to read display, even in bright
+ Europe Map fits without additional memory card to the device
+ Speakers is good. Announcements clearly.
- Software does not appear on all computers, and with all versions of Windows
- Car cable too short
- Voice prompts partly too late.
- Coupling with smartphone only tethering (Wi-Fi hotspot on your smartphone)
- Disc holder relatively difficult from the unit separable
It would be desirable even if the Navi could be linked via Bluetooth to the car (if technically possible), so that the announcements could be given directly back via the car speakers.
Otherwise, a functional and good in principle Navi. Compared to other products, but it lacks some of the accuracy and usability.
Have surged 3-4 stars, but by my fiasco with the install the software and activate the accounts (was an old account of a GO710; webpage absolutely refused to acknowledge this, because incorrect software; after use of the notebook, instead the PC, it worked), and the related update of GO 60, my decision then negative and therefore in favor of the 3 stars came from.
Update from 09/07/2014:
After tests with the latest software version for the Navi, the problem with the belated announcements has not occurred to bend. Now the instructions keep coming in time, a maximum nor a repetition, if one is in the bending process. For this correction, there is now the upgrade to 4 stars.
The problem with the software "MyDrive Connect", I have again further tackled, but it is to me absolutely not possible to obtain 64 bits to run this on my Windows 7 Professional. Despite countless other experiments, it always comes out the same, negative result.
The software starts. Closing the Navi on, this will also detect and display the serial number. Then there is the info that updates exist, and now only runs the egg timer and the display shows "Connecting ...". Even far more searching the net for a solution brought no result.
