Good product, almost flawless

This storage server to the rather phenomenal capacity of 6 TB it must be remembered is intended only for Mac users, in fact, to date no certified map thunderbolt exists for PCs.
An important thing to know and the thunderbolt cable (the cable 2m price is still 50 euros) is not supplied as standard by the manufacturer, so you have to think about adding this cable to an already steep bill.
Then, regarding the product itself you have the choice of the disk configuration, very important step since it is this choice that depend on the one hand the technical performance of hard drives, and security of your data.
You have the choice between:
- A raid 0, which is a system or data is written on the fly on both drives (both drives are considered as a single entity by the server), the advantage is that performance is the best, but against you do not have protection against a drive crash, if one disk fails you lose all data.
- A raid 1, which is a system or data is replicated on both disks simultaneously, the downside and you halve the capacity of your backup (the 3TB occurrence instead of 6 or 1.5 TB instead 3TB 3TB for the view), but if against one of the two drives fails your data is available.

For my part, I chose the raid 1 because it is tempting to use a Raid 0 and use available 4TB, I prefer without any hesitation put safety because I can not imagine losing all my photos stored for years because of a drive failure.

Regarding performance, they are good, but we feel that the manufacturer did not want to put the best performing drives in its class, it's all very correct, but considering the price I would have posted the product j ' have preferred to have faster disks.

For more embarrassing against this device did not want to run on a macbook pro dating from early 2011 which however has a thunderbolt taken by another against newer MacBook Pro and MacBook Air no problem everything worked.
