What values the clock registered, is in the product description and should not be repeated here. For me, all the important values are included. Over a distance of 101 train, the clock has lost count by 1 or 3 tracks, which as recreational athletes is an acceptable value for me. Why the swim but suspected I would try on about 40% of the distance on the backstroke, I can only guess - do not swim almost never on the back (if only because the risk of collision at the times, in because I go swimming, considerably is ...).
The display of the data are the breaks or after exercise is clearly structured and easy to read display. By the way, the display has a switchable lighting that probably should but rather people who use the device as a "normal" Watch pleased. For the swim training itself I see them as secondary.
The data collected during the training can be exported, namely via the supplied ANT + Stick. This works quite well and easy - but when you create online only "My Garmin" account. and precisely because we are talking about the "potential" of the clock, or rather at the desires of the developers.
1) export the data to a computer without the compulsion of an online account. I train, I generate data and I will decide if I want to share this world.
2) I am aware that there are probably as many different swimming styles such as swimmers. Perhaps the recognition of the swimming style can still optimize yes.
3) The Garmin Swim can evaluate any pulse information; a chest strap probably would anyway suboptimal swimming without a wetsuit. For a product of another manufacturer but I have seen that it has an (optical) pulse control without chest strap. I do not know if such a thing can be realized in a product like the Garmin Swim, but that would be at the moment a unique selling point for a floating computer!
4) An automatic start / stop - recognition would be nice.
All in all, I recommend the Garmin Swim for the ambitious recreational athletes in good conscience whether athletes would so happy, I can not judge and would recommend an appropriate test.
