First Impression:
The first impression was very positive when unpacking. The unit is smaller than expected and it is amazingly light, as opposed to my previous Braun shaver. For this you get a cleaning station, but definitely needs its place in the bathroom, a bottle of cleaning fluid, a storage bag and a cleaning brush.
The razor fits comfortably in your hand and makes a high quality impression
Shave:
So - now the most important point shaving. For me it is the first razor with three shear head technology as used comes with Philips. The first few seconds it's a strange feeling, but then you get used to it. That you have to make circular motions also to the fact. The result is very good, but not outstanding. On the cheeks of Philips plays with its technology from its strengths. Here the result is quickly and thoroughly. Significantly more problems he has in the chin and neck area. Here the Braun with its oscillating head in the lead. Here you have to go quite often to have a really good result on points but with the Philips. But one must not forget that the Philips PowerTouch number is the lowest of the four Philips shaver series and therefore the product is available at a good price. The Premium model will cost well three times.
Cleaning:
There are three ways to clean the shaver. With the brush under running water and in the station. Running water was getting used to for me and I must confess that if I had paid for the razor that I would probably not trust me so quickly. A Brown would after a shower probably over. At Philips, you can open the cutting head and keep them under the water. Fairly good thing!
The cleaning station is so ne thing. It is touted in the manual as the best of the three cleaning methods and of course you have to admit that it is the result also. After 8 minutes, the operation is completed, the unit is super clean and there is even disinfected. For this purpose, it smells good too and feels like it fresh on the skin. But it also has one big disadvantage: The additional costs! And that is a point that every note and then you have to decide for yourself whether it is worth it. The cost issue is the cleaning fluid. One bottle is enough for just 2 fills the station. However, the liquid in the station according to the manual use for 2 weeks - so that it would take just one bottle per month with daily cleaning (as recommended). A bottle costs at Amazon or commercially 7-10 EUR. Add to that the cost of electricity for the cleaning and the unit needs an astonishing amount, namely about 1 kWh per cleaning operation. At 24 cents per KWH makes more 7-8 EUR per month. Say - the cleaning station is a matter of the purse. Who has the money or want to spend on it, which really gets a great purified device. Otherwise, it also makes the running water and occasional cleaning in the station.
Conclusion: There is a very good shaver and good for a fair price. However, for those who value a truly perfect shave, which should go in a higher price range (eg the Philips SensoTouch 3D series). When cleaning station everyone must decide whether the extra costs are to him too much or not myself - but she does a good job in any case!
