It's been several years since I have this scanner. I had given up because finding no driver W7. Then with a new PC W8 I again looked for a driver, I've found. So I keep my scanner few thousand slides (quiet evening in front of the TV). As they go through 16, so good. 1 minute per dia, excluding installation, in 600dpi (that's enough). For cons, the treatment of nega is downright soporific: always 600dpi, it's more than an hour to 36 exposures. Unbearable. The positive (dare I say) is that the result is good, as nega dia, as long as the originals are of good quality, and that's the chemistry used by the lab that makes the difference between dias of discolored, or as "yesterday". I have 20 years and impeccable all other trips. The Negas are more stable. The problem of scanners is dust and traces, above and below the glass. That of 4050 disassembles easily by unscrewing four Phillips screws underneath the scanner, after disconnecting and removing the cover. We must frequently clean for good quality, and use a blower to small dust. Tip: You can also scan negatives or positives large size, without using the grilles supplied with the scanner. CONCLUSION: Good scanner, great life, but not very fast in negative.
