These are USB 2. In terms of transfer speed (on my XP SP2) writing a big file of 700 MB on the drive takes 54 seconds. The reading from the key to the PC of the same file takes 40 seconds. For the USB2 is correct. This key fits easily in a pocket because the mouthpiece is retractable and when retracted, the key has no angle.
The slide mechanism to get in and out the tip is rather firm. The bright side is that it is not likely to retract or open by accident.
There is a small hole for a lanyard and it looks solid.
On the record indicated that the Secure II software is provided. It is a broad concept because the key is delivered without software on it. It will download it from the manufacturer's website by googling "lexar jumpdrive secure s70 ii"
This software lets you create "vaults" with password in which encrypted files will be instantly at the copy / paste. It's very nice to use. Files can also be ground, that is to say definitively clear with no hope of undelete.
There is an LED that blinks during transfers. You can not miss it, it engulfed the slide compartment.
At the thickness slide mechanism add two millimeters. If your USB slots are one above the other it can be a bit tight.
