A motion sensor reacts (almost) always better when he hangs up.
And for a normal ceiling lamp in an ordinary apartment like mine, where it hangs in approximately 2.10m height, it works perfectly for me.
As for energy-saving lamps, is possibly a matter of what type you have, it comes through the two response times, ie first of the motion, and then the energy saving lamp for small delays. I have therefore again uses a standard light bulb. :-)

With multiple switched light versions you mean probably a cross circuit 'that you can light from several points on and off. Hm, just makes me question why you need this function if you now have the lamp a motion yet?
I happen to have the same constellation and the same phenomenon. I have a switched phase simply disconnected, and glued to stop using switches. Now it works perfectly for me.
