The LED back-lighting on the monitor is very good: homogeneous and no noticeable light leaking on the edges. The color reproduction is not as good as HOWEVER on IPS panel, like the Asus PB248Q: There is a bit more banding on the AMVA + panels. By default, after lowering the brightness, the gamma is quietly very low. My advice: switch to gamma mode 2 or 3 in the OSD or tweak the gamma in the graphics drivers to get a proper contrast.
The resolution is fairly low for a huge search panel: 27 inches and only 1920 * 1080 pixels. If you sit at less than 70-60 cm of the screen, you will notice That the picture is not as smooth as It could be, When Compared To 23 or 24 inches or higher resolution monitor 27 inches monitor. That effect Seems to slightly emphasize the aliasing in video games though. The reaction time in games is good overall, slightly faster than in most cases IPS, but definitively slower than TN panels. .According To "professional" reviews, the output is very low lying On That type of panel. A good point.
Overall, did screen offers a good picture quality after some slight adjustments: You can Easily get great contrast and a well balanced picture quality. For a multimedia usage, this monitor is an excellent compromise for games, videos and photography (color calibration recommanded). A great all-rounder!
The biggest negative point is the ergonomics of the monitor. You are unable to rotate and change the height of the screen. You can tilt it, put it in portrait or landscape mode, but it will not rotate left or right and it will not go any lower. So, the base of the foot itself is occupying a lot of space and Seems prone to scratches. Another small negative point Is that it has neither DisplayPort nor USB hub.
Picture Quality: Very Good
Ergonomics: average
Design: good
Summary: Highly recommended, if you do not mind the average ergonomics
People looking for a better "foot" should check out the Asus VN279QLB. It has the same panel but has a much better foot and even thinner bevels.
