High of Wuthering Heights (Paperback)

Customer Review

everything has been said about this novel.
we may be impressed by the darkness of this book. The characters are perverse and violent. The madness is not far and the atmosphere is gloomy.
If this book is from the imagination of a young woman, one can still see a reflection of English rural life in the 19th century ... deserted moors, mansions, arranged marriages, little social life
I really enjoyed myself in this Victorian atmosphere while never having any attachment to the characters: disease, depression, madness, passion, bigotry, superstition ... no character is sane.
I missed out on many things there are thirty years old when I first read it. I do not regret to have plunged.
It remains me want to read another work of the Bronte sisters: Jane Eyre
