The concept of the pockets is really great. The two side pockets can be easily loaded / unpack when you hang the bike and especially the upper cross bag stands compared to many other panniers out: While most other bags here consist of a big bag, which one lies down on the luggage carrier , and that can be opened only on a narrow side as a backpack, this bag can like a suitcase open on a large page and load up. This is really handy, because you have less Hochstapeln be finished and so easily comes to lower luggage. The big bag is divided up into two compartments, the bottom two pockets have small side pockets for cell phone, wallet and other small items. The pockets of my colleagues were often only of a large trade, which is rather impractical for small items to which you have during the tour rankommen often times.
Another barely be underestimated plus is the incredibly versatile cargo net, which is much more flexible compared to the classic luggage tensioners simple. Besides sleeping bag, mattress or tent (two of these three items are suitable in terms of size among the network): If one has time just garbage and trash is just not there; you go once just uphill and will take off the jacket and not deep tuck into the pockets or you wet laundry to along-use the wind to dry: just chop under the power thus and so directly behind the back immediately at hand, if a trash can on roadside stands, or it goes downhill again. All possible I have ever pinched up quickly under the net.
The fixing on the bicycle is properly easy and secure, although the parts are mostly made of plastic, but make a pretty robust impression and I have not gone kauputt. The side pockets have a carrying handle and if you pull on it automatically click the grippers on and let the Porter lot (added, the hooks can be a little, but is not a problem).
Overall, I had hardly any wear problems, the bag looks (except for a little dirt and a really quite beautiful reddish through Verbleichung) almost like buying. The only worry point: A couple of riveting the side bags are somehow partially departed. I have to care if the case should give up the ghost, therefore taken on the last 3000km tour nuts and bolts to the to judge if necessary. But even without intact rivets holding back the bags, so their use was not necessary.
Thus, the bag is almost perfect for trips and long trips suitable, unless this would be a problem because: The bags are not waterproof. A special rain cape is indeed included, but
1. Takes the space in the luggage claim (zusammegepackt little less than two fists)
2. it is already annoying, always unwrap the thing and put on the bags, when it starts to rain and
3. and that is the biggest problem, it is apparently not interpreted by the size that luggage also to encompass under the luggage net yet. So if you have put tent and sleeping bag under the luggage net, you get hardly pulled completely over the bags, the rain cover. With me have always been missing at the bottom of the side pockets about 5 cm. Really become a little wet is me thus even in heavy rain yet, but there is always a geziehe and wrangling to get the shell at least as far as possible on the bags anyway. For tours in the warm, dry south that was always to cope very well for me. If one expects a few rainy days for me still clearly outweigh the benefits of pocket. Who, however, intends to drive in rainy areas such as Scandinavia, where I'd been recommended to consider a waterproof bag.
Two other points yet:
On the one hand a large plastic plate is sewn to the porter side of the large, upper pocket that gives the bag stiffness. On the bike is okay (although I wonder if you would not have here a little weight can save), but if you want to use the bag as a backpack (straps can be practically stowed in a separate compartment) have been directly the plastic plate on the back, which is not very convenient in the long run. From the "lightweight back padding" in the product description can be felt not so much. Times a stroll so is feasible, a hike that I did not want to undertake more.
For others you may have to say that you fastened the large upper pocket only by zipper on the two side pockets. This means that you can fix on bicycle the upper pocket not alone, you need to both side pockets. The side pockets on the other hand can also be alone (also individually) fixed to the bike.
Conclusion: For people who drive only if it is dry or drive to the south, where there are not as frequent rains, I can really recommend the bags. The concept of subdividing into smaller compartments and side pockets as well as the large and flexbile luggage net make this bag stand out among the other panniers. People for whom the rain is an important part of a cycling tour and is downright challenged, and people who want to use the upper pocket intensively as backpack, I would recommend to look a little more.
