Asus T200TA-CP001H 29.4 cm (11.6 inches) Netbook (Intel Core 2 Quad Z3775, 1.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 64GB HDD, Intel HD, Win 8, touchscreen) Blue (Personal Computers)

Customer Review

I have the Asus Transformer T200 bought to replace my Samsung Ultrabook, in which defective unfortunately the battery went (two months after the guarantee, what a coincidence).
The Ultrabook had indeed 14 "and the T200 with its 11.6" a good bit smaller surf, but that bothers me in office work, Internet and movies do not look further and I wanted anyway replace my 7 "Tablet, as it surf for ordinary part two birds was too small. So done in one fell swoop.

The appearance of the tablets I like very much. The blue of the back might not be everyone's taste, some people would rather have desired a black. I like the color but good and the brushed / corrugated surface like it also. Thus, it is significantly better grip than the smooth surface, as it has about the smaller model T100. However, this surface is not safe from fingerprints, but which can be wiped off with a microfiber cloth around pretty easy.

The keyboard dock is like the tablet made of plastic, but this is not a negative to see also the keyboard dock like it and it is very verwindingssteif because it is made of hard plastic.
But we come here for processing and disappointed the Tablet unfortunately. It cracks and creaks. Especially on the right and the top. This means that there is always noises when you hold it in your hand and carrying around or when you open it in notebook mode. And that really sucks. I ertwarte for the price not a unibody metal case, the material used is of the look and feel so good, but that there will be no cracking and creaking, but I may well ertwarten yet.

The Keyboard Dock is there much better, no noise when you touch it or it expresses.
The weight I find fine. Of course you can not keep such a large tablet an eternity in hand, but I'm so well clear. With Keyboard Dock is no lightweight, but still in order and easy to transport.
General seems the quality control at Asus to look sometimes not as accurate, because after first opening were on display any spots, I suppose, that the glue was some that was just stiff to remove.

Display
_______________________________________________

The display is as I said 11.6 "tall and has a HD resolution, ie 1366x768 pixels. In times of Full HD and QHD with mobile phones that's not much, but perfectly adequate. My 14" Ultrabook had the same resolution and even then it was still acceptable. Although you can see individual pixels and when compared with a surface one sees but then a significant difference, but again absolutely fine, there is nothing to complain about.

The brightness is also perfectly fine. Had it been most of the time on 1/3 of the maximum brightness, higher than the half I had not been. But I've used it only in the house and as the sun now yes only rarely comes out I can not say how well it beats the outdoor use in sun.

Thanks to IPS panel the colors are pretty strong and the view angle is large. The touchscreen works without problems and is very accurate.

Unfortunately, there is one criticism of the display: it has quite strong but Clouding. Especially right upper and lower corner and even in the upper left corner (see image at the customer images). With normal use does not fall on one, but in dark images, such as in films unfortunately bring me much. Since watching movies is the primary use of a points, bothers me bring me much.

Mir is still noticed that the screen will change the brightness and contrast depending on the displayed image. So when a dark site or dark image is displayed, the brightness and contrast goes down, probably to save energy. I was once confused, because I do not know which of tablets, but only on some TVs. And there has already annoyed me this technique, because it can cause quite that anyway dark areas even further "drown" and then look vermatscht. Unfortunately I have not found a way to turn it off.

Performance

Surf for Office, Internet and listen to music ranging from the atom Z3775 as long as you can not run many demanding applications simultaneously or Tab orgy organized as one of the only large 2GB memory makes life difficult.
But generally sufficient to 2GB, if you are surfing the Internet and only a one or the other document has open.
Also FullHD videos on Youtube are not a problem. Partially individual, short stuttering occurred, but since I can not say clearly whether it was due to the performance of the device or to Firefox / Flash.

On really demanding websites or pages with lots of Flash content, it can sometimes cause minor delays.

Games I have not tested, because that I have a desktop PC.
However, the CPU speed is clocked down below 10% at 0.5 Ghz. Unfortunately, it can since then been surfing cause problems, Firefox has then sometimes been suspended briefly.

Of the 64GB are an effective about 31GB available, because the recovery partition already devours 8GB (an Office trial was unfortunately not installed).

While the built-in eMMC memory comes from the speed falling far short of a SSD ran, but is sufficiently fast, programs open quickly and without delays larger size. Partially even fast as my old Ultrabook with i5 but only a slow HDD. A screenshot of benchmarks with CrystalDiskMark I also uploaded.

The memory can be expanded with a microSD card, but the maximum speed is not really high with 24Mbit / s. For a Class 10 card has reached no really higher maximum speed than a Class 4 card (see Benchmark screenshots). To install programs on it I would use a microSD card is not necessarily, but for files that should already be well used. This microSD card is inserted in the slot barely out which should not even be a millimeter, so the transportation is likely to happen there nothing.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard is fortunately a full-size keyboard, so you do not have to get used for smaller keys, as is the case for 10 "equipment.

It can write well on the typing feel I find absolutely fine, only the sound sounds a little "cheap" at (compared to my old 800 Ultrabook), but since I have already got used.

The touchpad is very large and it reacts mostly also very good and accurate. The two keys are still quite noisy, but I do not care, because I have so far not actually used, as you right-click "suppressed" by two-finger tap. Unfortunately, you can not change that, that would press the middle mouse button, which I would have actually preferred desired because I was so used to getting.

However, there seems to be a problem with the driver. Because whenever I zuklappe the tablet (in notebook mode) and Be moved as in the power saving mode and then reactivate Although the touchpad works in the basic functions yet, but all the "Smart Actions" as two-finger scroll, or left on the pad emphasize to switch between apps no longer work. Since then helps only one restart.

Battery life

At 9 hours, the manufacturer's instructions to get ran no way. With surfing, listening to music and here and there a short video I came only 5 to 6 hours at a display brightness 3/1 to 2/1. I think that's a bit disappointing, especially in light of the manufacturer SPECIFIED.

Can also be used to standby / power-saving mode, I can not recommend it because of MMN too much energy required. Because it loses one hour in standby around 10% battery.

But I have a feeling that the battery does not work in general really, because it (what should be done according to instructions before the first start-up) after the first charging the battery had already Wear level (ie how much the battery is already worn ) of 10%. And now after 6 or 7 times charging he has risen to 12%. The battery actually has a capacity of 18750mWh, my here now already but only 16510mWh so on 2000mWh less. And I think for a new device already badly surprising and disappointing.
Charge time will be switched off for about 2 hours.

The maximum opening angle of the tablet in the opening angle I would have liked a little bigger. If the machine is on a table and you sit in front of it is enough, but if you have it on his knees, the angle is too low. Then you look at the display no longer frontal, but obliquely from above. Through the IPS panel, the colors are not greatly distorted, but nonetheless it is sub-optimal.

The speakers are enough for the Windows operating times and to watch a short video here and there, but for listening to music permanently unsuitable. But as I have expected nothing less.

The device is also once crashed with a blue screen, and again it has been completely suspended, that nothing went.

While surfing with Firefox partially enters a kind of graphical glitches / artifacts. Then small black dots / squares are on the screen to see the also "move" all the time. But I could not reproduce this problem specifically. (See Image)

Conclusion

I do not really know what I am now of the Asus Transformer is to keep T200.

On the one hand Convertible is with beautiful design, good display and decent performance for everyday use.

And on the other side are the negative points, the creaking of the modest processing and the only moderate battery power. But I assume that I caught a Monday device in these two points (again: /) and the fact should not be so. And if these two points would not, the T200 would be a great device and I also very satisfied.

But nevertheless I must evaluate my unit and I can see only at 3.5 stars. But unfortunately you can not give half stars here, I round it up to 4 stars.

My Device I will return anyway. However, I do not know yet whether I order a new one and then hopefully get a properly working device or on the model with slightly faster CPU (Z3795) and 4GB RAM wait.

If there are questions, I will be pleased to answer as far as possible. :)
